Who we are
Livestock SA is an industry body representing beef cattle, sheep and goat producers in South Australia.
Livestock SA is the peak industry organisation representing South Australia’s red meat and wool producers, advocating for policies and programs that support a strong and sustainable livestock sector. With over 5,200 sheep producers, 2,700 beef cattle producers and several hundred goat producers across the state, Livestock SA plays a critical role in ensuring the success of South Australia’s $4.3 billion livestock industry, which supports 21,000 jobs across the red meat and wool supply chains.
Since its establishment in 2013, Livestock SA has evolved considerably. Industry leadership, policy, and advocacy remain a key focus, and as the state’s only red meat and wool body, the organisation plays a critical role in investment and development through its management of the Sheep and Cattle Industry Funds. On 1 January 2025, the organisation transitioned from an association to a company limited by guarantee to strengthen its governance, transparency and accountability.
Livestock SA is a commodity group member of Primary Producers SA and represents South Australian producers at the national level as a member of Sheep Producers Australia, WoolProducers Australia, Cattle Australia, and the Goat Industry Council of Australia.
Membership is open to all livestock producers who pay industry levies under the Primary Industries Funding Schemes Act 1998 in South Australia, with no additional cost to join Livestock SA. Associate membership is available to other industry stakeholders for a fee. For more information, visit Livestock SA Membership.
