Calling livestock industry leaders: step up for EAD preparedness
When an emergency animal disease (EAD) strikes, the livestock industry must be ready to respond swiftly and effectively. Industry representatives play a vital role in these responses—providing real-time insights, advocating for their sector, and working alongside government to protect animal health and business continuity.
Workshop details
To strengthen this critical capability, Animal Health Australia (AHA), the Department of Primary Industries and Regions South Australia (PIRSA), and national Peak Industry Bodies (PIBs) are hosting a Liaison – Livestock Industry (LLI) workshop on 30 October 2025 in Adelaide.
This workshop is designed specifically for individuals endorsed by a national PIB (as one of AHA’s livestock industry members) who are likely to represent their industry during an EAD response. This is not general awareness training — it’s targeted, role-specific preparation for those ready to step into leadership roles within a control centre environment.
What to expect
Participants will:
- Understand the LLI role within Australia’s EAD response arrangements, including how industry is formally integrated into government-led responses.
- Gain practical skills in communication, coordination, and decision-making under pressure.
- Engage in scenario-based exercises that simulate real-world EAD events, helping build confidence and capability.
- Connect with peers and government counterparts, strengthening networks that are vital during a crisis.
Ready to lead?
Contact your PIB to discuss participation if you are ready to take on this important role. If you aren't sure who your PIB is, contact trainingsupport@animalhealthaustralia.com.au or submit an expression of interest form.
Learn more
To learn more about the LLI function, visit AHA’s LLI role webpage. There, you’ll find a short video overview of the LLI role, access to AHA’s eLearning platform (including the LLI online course, a prerequisite for the workshop), the EAD Foundation course, and the LLI Information Guide.
Together, we can build a stronger, more coordinated response to future animal disease threats.
